- If a tooth is so badly damaged by caries that it is beyond repair using filling material then it has to be covered by an artificial crown. Metal, plastic and porcelain are ideal materials for producing prosthetic crowns. For biological compatability reasons (bio-compatibility) metal-free crowns are very popular in holistic medicine, as metals can trigger allergies. Using CAD-CAM technology it is possible to produce strong crowns and frames using zirconium (full ceramic).
- Full ceramic crowns are optimaly customized to suit the other teeth and are well tolerated by the gums. Ceramic crowns are fitted in our holistic dental practice using conventional dental cement. Thus the frequent incompatability linked to commonly used dental fixing cement can be excluded.
